The Woo!Worths
Brighton/London, England
The Woo!worths make infectious, colourful, harmony-heavy & rhythmic music using computers, synthesizers, samplers, guitars & their voices. Their trio of members come from London, Brussels & Brighton.
Richard Smith and Steve Baker, who played together as bassist & guitarist of the defunct Brighton band Frock, got together to get some of Mr. Smith's songs on tape. The formation of a band was inevitable once some demos were put down and they were offered their first gig. After a year or so, the eminently versatile Jo Bramli (Largo, We Are Snazzy & Imitation Electric Piano) joined on synths & vocals, bringing new textures and colours; and they found their sound. Their name is a slightly different story. :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
In the last 12 months, The Woo!worths have been playing mainly across London and Brighton including The Dublin Castle, 93 Feet East, 229, The Fly Bar, Notting Hill Arts Club, Shoreditch House, Concorde2, Monto Water Rats & 333 Mother Bar but the highlight of 2009 was being chosen by legendary photographer Rankin as winners of 'Rankin Live', a competition in association with myspace & The Big Chill festival. :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Their prize was to perform on one of the festivals main stages and have a photo-shoot with Rankin. After playing on the Friday, they were requested to play two additional sets (including a 2am show in the VIP area) and the photos from their shoot were printed in Esquire and Dazed & Confused. Other perks were being asked by Rankin to play at his Rankin Live exhibition closing party and to support Little Boots for her performance at the Destroy Rankin exhibition in November. ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Unsigned and independent, they are currently writing and recording their debut release for early 2010.
