Music & Fashion Co Ordinator Accidental Festival 2010
Hi there! I am writing to let you know about an exciting opportunity to show your work in London. The Accidental Festival, organized by Performance Arts Students at The Central School of Speech and Drama, celebrates contemporary art across many forms including theatre, fashion, live art, puppetry, dance, visual art, installation, film, new writing and comedy. The festival is 5 years old and has been hosted by several high profile venues during that time including The Roundhouse and the Institute of Contemporary Art. Hundreds of artists from the UK and abroad apply to be programmed in a dynamic, ground breaking and varied festival attended by over a thousand audience members a year.
Alongside the programme of performances and exhibitions, there are a whole host of community projects, after-hours events, workshops and forums featuring important figures in contemporary art from around the globe. These include names like Richard Foreman, Anne Boggart, Punchdrunk and Station House Opera. This all makes for a fantastic few days in which artists of all disciplines and backgrounds can show their work, meet their audiences and exchange ideas with like minded people in a friendly festival atmosphere.
This year we are very interested in showcasing some Music, we understand that at times no statement is louder than the expression of Music We are anxious to see the new ideas up and coming singers/songwritters have and want to share with an audience, ranging from lyrical, soulful, Rnb to rock Jazz & experimental. The Accidental Festival will bring you a very diverse audience, for you to meet and share your ideas with. The work programmed will be concerned with ideas we find important, topical and innovative. This ranges from the importance of travel and internationalism, culture and language, chaos and play. Audience is at the heart of this festival. It is a celebration of the excitement, stimulation and human connection that performance is capable of sharing.
We celebrate brave decisions and embrace the risks taken to push boundaries of audience-performer conventions. Attached to this letter, I include an application form to this year's festival due to take place in May 2010. Applications have been opened officially as of the 3rd December by Liz Lecompte of the Wooster Group. However, international applications can be submitted immediately. If you have a piece of work that you are excited about and would love to bring to London and to the festival, then please complete the form http://www.accidentalfestival.com/2010/get-involved/applications/ at
the earliest possible opportunity for consideration. The closing date
