Kyra Vidal's unique and soulful voice first came to light when she was just 16 and her music has been played on Kiss FM, Radio1 Xtra and Choice FM. She also performed at the RNB Sensations in 2006 which was the same platform that launched the career of Corrine Bailey Rae. More recently she had the opportunity to work with the legendary Alexander O'Neil and the duo performed during the BBC Electric Proms. So taken with her 'electro-soul' style that he asked her to work with him again and the pair has just finished a track from his eagerly anticipated new album. Karla Williams recently sat down with the likeable songwriter to find out a bit more about the woman behind the voice.

How did you find being on the Cordless Show?
I really enjoyed it, it was a fun day. It was kinda nerve racking because it was the first time I've done anything in front of the cameras like that but it was fun - I just want to do it again really!

Your track End of Time contains a lot of emotion and sounds like it was written with someone particular in mind. Was it?
[Laughs] You're good, you're a good interviewer! I wrote it when I was 16 actually and I did write it for someone special in my younger days, yeah.

I won't ask any more questions, I'll leave it there!
[Laughs]

In a movie about your life, who would you like to play you?
Ooooo...Erm...I would love, even though there is kind of an age gap, I would love Sade; I think she'd be heavy!

If you found a wallet with £50 in it, what would you do with it?
I'd look to see if the person's contact details were in there and I really, really would hand it back in - I've done that before.

And what TV programme do you watch without fail?
I never really get hooked on TV programmes but one programme that got me was Prison Break. I can't remember his name, but the one who plays Scofield, he was doing it! Every week I was like, 'yeah got to watch Prison Break!'

If you could invite one special guest to your birthday party, who would it be?
Beyonce!

If you could take a trip for 30 days and money wasn't an issue, where would you go and what would you do?
I would like to go to Dominica to visit my granny and grandad. Then from there take some kind of private jet to some unknown beautiful Caribbean island and just eat beautiful food, do some water sports and just enjoy the scenery.

What 3 things can you not live without?
Erm...lip balm, family and...God!

Do you have any New Year's resolutions?
I don't have New Year's resolutions I just have life resolutions; always try to eat better, sleep better and keep smiling.

If you had to smell like one thing for the rest of your life, what scent would you pick?
Okay, if I'm in a greedy mood, y'know those Waffle places?

Yeah, I know them
And they smell amazing when you walk past them; probably that smell because that smells wicked and always better than they taste!

Finally, why will 2010 be better than 2009?
Because I'll be out on TV!
