Jonny Taylor is the laid back, funny and charming vocalist who was recently featured on the Cordless Show with his memorable new single London Town. With a sound that is characteristically LDN, he has toured with Jason Mraz and I am Kloot and has been backed by the likes of Tom Robinson and Chris Hawkins from BBC 6 Music. His catchy songs and thoughtfully crafted lyrics make him undoubtedly one to watch for 2010 and Karla Williams recently caught up with him to see how it's all been going.

Did you enjoy your time on the Cordless Show?

Yeah the show itself was great, I really enjoyed it. I like working with Kate [Bond] and I have done so before as she runs a night called Wired...it was a good experience.

You recently supported Jason Mraz. Did you enjoy being on tour?
I actually only did one night with him but it was awesome; that's the best way to describe it. It was a very, very, very good experience learning how to play to a crowd of that size. It was sold out, more than 5000 people were there! It was pretty intense but it was very, very good.

What song do you love so much you wish you'd written it?
Oh that's a good question! There are lots of songs that I wish I'd written! Erm...I'd loved to have written Hallelujah and then I'd love to have sung it like Jeff Buckley. But then at the same time I would have loved to have written You And I Both which is one of my songs by Jason Mraz and then I'd love to have written...Oh there are so many!

So we'll stick with Hallelujah then?
Alright.

Is there a film you've seen so often that you know most of the lines?
Fight Club.

Have you ever been attacked by an animal?
[Pause] Yes, a black cat called Charlie.

Explain what happened.
He is just a large angry cat who doesn't like humans.

What about his owner, is that the only human he likes?
Yeah pretty much because she feeds him. He's an angry cat but I respect him for being an angry cat.

What would you say are your key strengths and weaknesses?
I like performing and I think I have quite good stage presence but I think I'm limited. One of my weaknesses is not learning the guitar as a full instrument and properly, properly learning how to play it. I kinda picked it up and taught myself. So I think that my limitations are the fact that I didn't have proper lessons and I've not really pushed myself to play as well as I could do.

If you had your own factory, what would you make?
These are great questions!

They're quite random, but that was what I was going for.
If I had my own factory what would I make?

Yeah.
It would make most things sort of musical and extreme sports. If I could build a factory that includes some kind of like Snow Park with a recording studio...that would be great.

Have you ever had what you would class as a supernatural experience?
Yes I have...I was on holiday with my girlfriend and we we're in a bedroom, I was asleep as was she and I rolled over to look at the windowsill and I swear I saw a shadow of a little boy sitting on the windowsill. So much so, that I couldn't sleep for the rest of the night and I didn't want to tell my girlfriend because I knew that she would have gone, 'I'm not staying here, I'm not sleeping here!'

That's spooky! If you could choose any superpower what would it be?
[Long Pause]

Hello?
I'm thinking...[A further long pause] I think it would be like in the Matrix; being able to download into my brain anything I wanted to do at that time.

Finally, finish this sentence, '2010 will be better than 2009 for me because...'
[Another long pause] that's a good question!

Have I stumped you?
Yeah...because I'm feeling more positive, assertive and more ready to go!
