Cherri V's induction into the music business began early with a performance to her local Church congregation at the tender age of 5. Then her aunt, Mica Paris, gave her a cameo role in the video My One Temptation before she went on to study at the Brit School. While still in her teens she toured with Brit and MOBO award winning Miss Dynamite and was later signed to Sony/BMG as part of RnB trio Trinity Stone; where the girls shared the stage with the likes of Sugababes, McFly and Girls Aloud. When the group broke up in 2007 Cherri re-launched herself as a solo artist and is currently signed to independent record label, 6060 Music. Karla Williams recently caught up with her to talk chicken, clothes and her Flavour Magazine photo shoot.

It's been nearly a year since you were on our online music show. How did you find the Cordless Show Experience?
I thought it was really, really good and at that time I felt like nobody was really doing that over here and having such a high standard recording both audio and visual. It was a really cool day and very organised and it was a nice experience; when I watched it back I was like 'wow, it looks really, really good!' It was something that I used as part of my show reel when I was trying to find management and a record label in the UK.

So what has been happening in the world of Cherri V since then?
Oh gosh loads! I spent a lot of time recording and still doing shows and stuff and then about a year after that I meet my independent label 6060 Music. At the moment we're just going through the album getting tracks ready, getting the package ready to release the album this year. We're also getting ready to release the single, Skool Daze feat. Wiley this month; we're just getting ready to catapult the product to the general public now.

You recently graced the cover of Flavour Magazine; what was that like for you?
That was great! It was the first time I've done an editorial photo shoot so it was nice to try out some different looks. We had these themes like a bad girl and a good girl, so one shoot was a white dress with dolly make up and we had the other that was quite racy with the fishnet tights and the vintage shorts. It was quite cool to flip it and wear something that I wouldn't normally wear on stage or in the normal Cherri V photo shoots. It was definitely a fun one to do and hopefully I'll get a lot more of those.

And if you weren't a singer what would you be?
Erm...I think it would definitely be something to do with performing arts. Before I was a singer and musician fully time I was a professional dancer so it would be something to do with performing arts. I've always been interested in dancing and drama so I don't know whether it would be something to do with being a dancer or maybe teaching children in the arts or something, but it would definitely be in performing arts.

If you could eat one type of food for the rest of your life, what would it be?
I think it would be chicken. [Laughs] I think everybody kinda likes chicken; not everyone, but I think it's like the most liked meat.

And what one thing could you do every day without getting bored?
Erm...that's the same thing; even if it was for five minutes or an hour or 15 minutes on stage - I could never get bored of that. I also like to work out quite a bit as well. I get kind of like the buzz from going to the gym or going for a run; I think it's good for the mind and the body. [Laughs] so they say!

Instead of leaves or money, what do you wish grew on tress?
Erm...clothes! [Laughs]

I like that one, it's really good!
Yeah clothes! why not?!

Which three words best describes Cherri V?
Creative, bubbly and...fruity! [Laughs]

When was the last time you cried?
WOW! Erm...I think New Years Day. I can't say why, but New Years Day.

Finally, finish this sentence: 'In 2010 I hope to...'
Release an album that hits the charts and I hope to get a MOBO nomination this year, hopefully.
